  • My Anniversary Surprise!

Actually i can't take any credit for this idea as it was given to me by one of my Xanga friends.

As i said in my post a few days ago, today is mine and Karla's 27th wedding anniversary.  I wanted a different way to surprise her.  Also, if you remember, i said that she works for a local florist here so buying flowers is a little difficult as i'm too loyal to go to a competitor shop.  So check this out.

i went to where Karla works at a time when i knew she wouldn't be there.  i talked to the owner to set up a time for Karla to deliver a dozen pink roses to a local restaurant right at noon and the card read they were to go to an Assistant Manager named Kellie.  The restaurant i chose is one of her favorites, Outback Steakhouse.

Here's the kicker though.  i got there at 11:45 and it was CLOSED!!!!  It doesn't open until 4:00pm on Fridays.  I....FREAKED....OUT!!!!!  In fact, i dang near panicked....lol  Fortunately, there's an Olive Garden right next door, SO, in my quick-witted thinking, i called the shop and told them what happened and asked them to call her (as she had already left the shop) and tell her the caller got it wrong.  That it was supposed to be "Olive Garden" NOT "Outback"....close enough right?   rrriiiigggggghhhhttttt!!!!!!

Anyway, i walked into the Olive Garden. Asked for a table where i couldn't easily be seen and told them that a woman would be delivering roses for Assistant Manager Kellie and that they were to bring her to my table.

IT WORKED!!!!   SHE HAD NO CLUE!!!

She came around the corner and saw me sitting there and had this great look of surprise on her face.  It was classic, i tell ya', classic!!!!!  Doofus me FORGOT to bring a camera.  SHEESH!!!  (It's amazing i got anything right on this....LOL)

So, we sat down and had a really nice lunch together.  Talking over how i got all this to happen, etc...  When she asked how i came up with it, i confessed it wasn't my idea, etc....  i told her about how i panicked, like the true DORK, that i am when i realized Outback wasn't open.  WHEW...that was a CLOSE one, wasn't it?

Anyhoo....that's MY anniversary surprise to the person who's put up with me for 27 years (plus the 3 years we dated before that).  I'm hoping for many more.

  • My, time's fun when you're having flies.

Wow...30 years ago today...in fact, this very hour....i first laid eyes on the woman i knew i'd spend the rest of my life with.

In 2 days (the 10th) we will celebrate the first 27 years of that journey as husband and wife.

And the cool part?  She already works for a florist so i don't have to the flowers route AND she's never been one for jewelry!

i'm a lucky fool!    God done me good bringing her into my life since i have like NO MONEY!   lol

Much love to you my lovely bride.  i hope for many, many more years to come.

You're the cheese to my macaroni!   (hmmmmm....that sounded a little weird!)

  • Proof that God has a sense of humor.

If i EVER meet up with that John Gray   dude, I swear i'm going to kick his....well...the place he sits down on, and i DON'T mean his chair!

It's NOT "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus".  NO! In my case, it "Men are from Mars and Women are from F&*%ING PLUTO!!!!"

SHEESH!!!!  (*he says with a VERY dramatic eyeroll*)

If i say left, i should've said right.

If i say, "Hey, look at that duck over there". I should've said "No dear! That doesn't make you look fat!"

If i shut up and say nothing's wrong, i get blasted for not sharing my feelings.

If i share my feelings then i'm just being hurtful and mean.

If i say "Yes, dear", then i'm just being spiteful!

Let me just say this...... "AARRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    Whew!  All better.

So, WHO will be the "Last Comic Standing"?  Well God, of course, for filling my life with such interesting females.   I've got HIS manual but i've quite yet cracked the code in understanding when it comes to these....ummm...."people".....in my life.    lol

    Thanks for listening....um.....reading!

And, of course, ummm....Thank You?  God?    "Good One!"  :)

  • What is forgiveness like for you?

One of the MANY things i love doing for the children's ministry is the videos, i get to make.

It's a new month which means a new "virtue" for our program called "The Rock", which means a new virtue video.

It's all about "Frogiveness" this month.  Here it is.

(After reviewing this post, i just noticed that i used the rough-cut version of the final produce video.  Oh well, i think you'll get the gist of it)

  • Just put it over there.

Recently, a friend asked that i prayer for them over something they are dealing with in their life.  Those who truly know me, know that i'm into the praying for others 'thang'.

i rarely turn down the opportunity to pray when in a group situation. i'm usually the first to speak up when the question is asked "Who wants to pray us out?"  i LOVE doing that.

But lately, prayer has come hard for me.  i'm not exactly sure why. It just is right now.  My motivation is just not there, you know?

When i pray for someone, i don't pray for them to have the things they want, or for them to step away from the things they shouldn't be doing.  No, i pray for their hearts.

My prayers are usually about asking God to 'move' that person's heart.  i pray that their heart will be moved in the direction they need to be going.  Whether it be towards, or away from, something.

So, i guess you'd say my prayers are like a moving company.  Tell me where you want your heart, and i'll work to get it moved for you.  My thinking is the rest of you will follow naturally.

    Like it says:
"Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be." Matthew 6:21 (NLT)

    Just a thought.
